Finding the Best Professional for Baby Photography

By Jensen Cartwright

It's important to find someone who specializes in baby photography when you want the very best pictures of your precious infant. Don't be fooled by the low price big store studios, you'll be disappointed every time. You want crisp clear shots that focus on the beauty of your baby, not blurry photos that you hide in a drawer.

You can ensure your pictures will turn out right by choosing the very best photographer to work with your baby. Very few photographers will admit if they have little experience photographing infants. To choose the right artist for your baby photography, look through his portfolio to be sure he works well with babies.

Check to see if your chosen photographer is a member of a national or regional association of photographers, or if they have won any awards for their work. And ask for testimonials, but beware the "generic" or unsigned testimonial. These are likely as fictional as a Stephen King novel.

The location of the photo shoot is also a very important consideration in baby photography. You may wish for a studio setup, or wish to request your own setting. No matter where you have your photo session, be sure that it's clean and works for your needs. You don't want a photo shoot taken in a setting that doesn't work for a child's photo. If your photographer doesn't have access to appropriate space to work in, that's a sign it's time to find another artist.

In addition to location, also consider what you'd like to have in the photo with your child. An artist who works with baby photography should have a wide range of items to work with in a photo, and to help keep a cranky baby entertained while shooting. A ratty teddy bear isn't enough for a baby photo shoot, look for props that are in good condition and appropriate.

Baby photography accessories are also important. Ask about key chains, cards, and frames. After all, you want to plaster your pictures of little snookums everywhere, from the office to the car. Be sure that family, friends and co-workers know that you have been busy procreating.
