Why It Is Essential To Have An Emergency Food Supply

By Tonthoy Rilathan

Every person needs shelter water, and food to survive. These are the three basic needs which are constant and must be provided for in order for us to thrive. The most important thing you can do for your family is to have an emergency food supply on hand should something go wrong.

It has been estimated that a stockpiled stash should be able to sustain the family for at least six months. There are several things which could go wrong and one of them is unemployment. Job loss is something which no one is above. If two people were to lose their jobs the emergency stash should be able to sustain the family until proper employment can be located.

The global economy is not getting any better. It has turned into a global event and so far no government has been able to curtail its progression. A growing number of families have started stockpiling groceries in the event of a complete economic collapse. It is a possible scenario, and one which should be taken seriously.

As if the world economy was not bad enough, the political tensions between countries have also been agitated. We live in a world where terrorist activity exists and the potential for targets to be hit at home has already been established. If terrorists were to strike it could cause a lot of problems one of which could be a run on local grocery stores. You would not have to be in the quarreling masses if you had the foresight to stockpile for your family.

Nature can also cause a shortage in essential living supplies. Earthquakes can do terrible damage and so can major flooding and violent storms. Anyone of these could put your community in complete disarray and scrambling for the basic needs to survive. The sad thing is it could take months for federal aid to arrive.

The world has changed considerably and we must learn to adapt the way we live to go along with it. Today it is important that everyone live as independently as humanly possible. When it comes to basic survival needs our families are basically left to fend for themselves. By creating an emergency food supply we can properly provide for our families in any type of an emergency.
