why you need a solid state drive

Netbooks were designed to generally be small and light from the start. They are simply mobile windows to your web and this can be carried around anywhere you go. The absence of an optical drive has drastically bought down the weight of annetbook when as compared to alaptop.

They also weigh much less than conventional hard drives as they do not have any heavy platters. Which can be great for netbooks making them even lighter. They are simply extremely simple to install and do not require different motherboards because the interface resembles hard drives.

These SSD's are also lightning fast you should use one to find out how fast they are really as compared to a magnetic hard drive. They have virtually no spin up times due to lack of disks the random access time is definitely 0.1 milliseconds yet still time a hard drive takes between 5 to 10 milliseconds.

In case of hard drive the access time is longer if the hard drive is fragmented which implies data is divided and stored in different parts ofthe disk. This can lead to a delay when accessing a selected data. This does not happen with SSD's because they do not fragment data to save it.

With there being no moving parts in an SSD it does not require maintenance and may not encounter mechanical breakdowns. The info stored on a hard drive is also susceptible to electromagnetic interference trigger loss of valuable data. Nothing of this sort can affect the information stored on an SSD.

The only drawback from mass scale deployment of SSD's is the cost factor. When it comes to cost for each Gigabyte of data to generally be stored an SSD is expensive when compared with conventional hard drive. Though case of every new technology the price of SSD's are expected to come down with time.
