The Red Sox were one of the first American League franchises created, and were originally founded all the way back in 1901. Since the team has been around for so long it has been able to build up a large fan base over time, not just in the city of Boston but throughout the entire nation. There are also many notable moments within Red Sox history that gives one an incentive to root for the team.

Initially, after the team won their fifth World Series title in 1918 they went on an 86 year title drought, known more famously as the "curse of the Bambino." After the team won the World Series they sold future hall of famer Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees so that the owner of the team could finance a Broadway production at the time. Another notable moment came in 1986 when first baseman Bill Buckner let the ball go through his legs during a crucial playoff game, thus allowing the other team to win the game and eventually the World Series.

Another reason why the need for Boston Red Sox tickets is so high also offers related to their recent success. The Red Sox were able to break from the supposed "curse" and win their 6th World Series win in 04'. In only three years next, in the year 2007, the team could earn one more World Series title in the sweep over the Colorado Rockies.
