This make it difficult to take a one handed shot. The body is VERY SLIPPERY and no texture to help with your grip.
Rinsed off the saltwater and took it to the mountains for the long shots. It is small enough for a pocket and great for hiking and backpacking - no worries on dropping.
So therein lies the problem. The picture quality is average at best.
I needed something durable and small for taking pictures while out with my toddler. This camera has been through the ringer already when she plays with it! Olympus clearly has poor quality control and I would not recommend them to anyone. I bought this for vacation to Mexico. I followed the guide given with the camera to help maintain and check for the waterproof feature and water got behind the screen and inside the lens.
I wanted a camera to take in snorkeling and also one that I was not worried about getting wet if caught out in a rain shower. I have a Canon DSLR, but did not want to spend hundreds more for an underwater housing. I returned it. Don't buy one, you'll regret it.
The LED is amazing. These modes would be great for engagement rings, baby feet and fingers, and pretty much everything. Maybe vendors other than Beach Camera are including the manual/software, or maybe we just got one boxed by someone having a bad day at the factory and it was accidentally omitted. Not sure, thought I'd warn others. The menu options are very easy. It is very easy to switch the flash on and off, which the option I toggle back and forth the most. Select the option that allows you to talk to a person! The tech support number [hard to find on the website] is 888-553-4448. It takes super clear pictures and great video. Learn how to use some of the settings and you'll have a great camera.
So, save your money and either buy another brand or just rent an underwater camera at one of the drive shops. When I got the camera in the mail I took it with me on a fishing trip. Dark photos with a flash do not look all that spectacular but still have great detail, but what do you expect, eh" My one qualm is the USB cable.

I also love how easy this camera is to use- my dad bought the new Canon underwater camera for our California trip, and he spent the better portion of every killer moment trying to adjust his settings or figure out which button to push. FILM SCANNER NEGATIVE.
