Name A Star After A Loved One

By Douglas Rathbone

There are always things to celebrate in life. They might be the birth of new children into a family or the birthday of someone special. It might be a special holiday where gifts are typically exchanged. People have been giving gifts to each other for all of time. Now people can Buy A Star after someone special and dear to them as a truly unique gift.

Humans can see a magnitude of brightness of six when it comes to celestial bodies in the sky. This means that out of all the two hundred billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy alone, only about forty five hundred to six thousand are going to show or be seen from Earth itself. Given that over half are going to be hidden by the light of day and other obstacles, people can expect to point out fifteen hundred stars more or less. So many stars hide in nebula or are too dim to be seen.

It's a very intimate and personal gift, choosing one of the many stars in the sky and giving it the name of someone a person cares about. It would be easy to see why someone might think this is a fake or something more of a scam. However, once one of the stars is named, its new identification is added to its existing scientific number in a world wide accredited database, making the new name as permanent as the name a person themselves might be given.

Most packages will also include other documentation to certify that the naming process is real and valid. A proper certificate printed on university grade paper is included, to help identify the process as real and authentic. This document is also a great display item for the person receiving the gift.

It's also possible to have a beautiful ornament included in the package along with the certification. This ornament is typically made of sterling silver and is beautifully engraved with all of the important details for the star-naming process. Date, scientific data and other important things are on the ornament, making it a great item for hanging from a Christmas tree or in a window, or even off of someone's rearview mirror in their car.

Most naming packages include other mementos as well. There is special software a person can have on their computer to allow them to view their particular stars across the night sky. A sky chart is also a great way to show someone the gift's location. Summer evenings out at a cottage or campsite, away from the bright lights of the city, holding the star chart up to the sky, can be a memory in of itself.

The concept of being able to name a star after a new child born into a family is a great idea. Being able to immortalize the passing of a very dear loved one is also an ideal time to purchase such a package. This gift is eternal and forever, and so full of love, just like the heavens themselves.
