Albertsons Grocery Store Sales

By Aaron Liles

I hate paying full price for movie tickets. There's an AMC theatre right down the street from my house (over 5,000 locations in the United States), and I'm constantly looking for ways to get coupons and AMC discount tickets for my weekly visits. To me, there's nothing more satisfying than knowing you saved a few bucks. If the concept of discount movie tickets is a new one, you'll likely be surprised by how many websites claim to offer lower prices than the box office. In some cases, their quoted prices provide savings up to fifty percent.

The first Arby's opened in 1964 in Boardman, Ohio. This first restaurant had a "chuckwagon-style" design with a natural wood and stone decor and a giant 10-gallon hat for a sign. Yes, it is a hat. Not a big oven mitt or a big ol' hunk of roast beef as many people seem to believe. A hat. On the original menu were their roast beef sandwiches for 69 cents, potato chips and iced tea. Arby's was an almost immediate success despite charging quite a bit more than other fast food restaurants at the time and within a year of opening the brothers franchised their first operation.

Market Fresh... I love that brand name. It makes me think of rolling farmland and roadside stands selling fresh-picked lettuce, tomatoes and onions. But you can't judge a book by its cover nor a food by its fancy name. The heads of marketing firms get paid lots of lettuce to come up with ideas that will lure us into temptation, but not deliver the goods! The ruination of many a great sandwich? Mayo... heaping spoonfuls of the full-strength, full-fat egg-based topping. Try less or, better yet, opt for the lighter brands or even the fat-free. I find the latter too sickeningly sweet.

Fortunately, the market place is very clear in what it wants. The market will tell you exactly what to do. You just have to know to TEST. Great marketers do not have any secrets other than they test everything they do religiously! You need to do the same thing. You must figure out how to market yourself or partner with someone who has figured it out. Otherwise you will have to go through years of trial and error until you figure out how to get the results you want.

In early 2006, they came into agreement with Supervalu, an investment company, which acquired the Albertsons. Following this event, Albertsons no longer stayed as an independent brand, though they still continue to have possession of their brand tag, and their original assets and properties. And New Albertsons Inc. came into being as its direct successor. Present news states that Supervalu intends to rename the entire brand, though still wants to keep a few stores by the name of Albertsons in Utah.
