Home Based Electronics Business: Starting Your Own

By Keri T Lambretta

How does your competition reward customers for buying from their company? Do they give discounts to repeat customers? Do they send out thank you gifts sometimes? I used to love when my grocery delivery company would bring me a box of items to sample. Think of ways that YOU can reward the people that keep you in business!

It's great to have a clean office for your home business, but remember that out of sight often means out of mind. Keep a corkboard or magnet board near your desk and put important paperwork or notes there so that they're always in your range of vision, keeping them at the top of your mind.

In order to truly succeed in the business world, you are going to need some form of coach or teacher to show you the ropes and assist in many of the big decisions. Doing this protects you from the harsh mistakes that new business owners commit far too often.

Calculate your start up expenses correctly. You may consider the start-up costs as a tax deduction, but if you expect your business to be successful and make money from day one, you need to consider other ways to deduct your capital expenses for example by delaying paying some of your bills until after you are in business.

Provide yourself with a special space designed solely for your home business. If you don't have your own office space established, you will find it harder to get motivated or even comfortable enough to get down to business. Even though you don't want to stuff yourself in the office and stay forever, you want your own space that holds all the tools of your trade.

You can build great backlinks to your website, raising your Google Page Rank, through posting on forums which are related to what your home business is selling. For example, a landscaper could post advice on a gardening forum and include a link to his site in his signature, if he is permitted by the rules of the forum!

To ensure success advertise your business or service. Invest in your own business cards with your name and company logo on them. You can pass these out and post them on bulletin boards. Many colleges, coffee shops and even restaurants have bulletin boards that you can use to advertise your business. Getting the word out is key to your success.

If you have a home business, don't miss out on the home office tax credit. You can claim this space even if you don't devote an entire room to your business. If you have an area which is only or primarily used for business purposes, you can claim it based on square footage, and calculate the portion of your home that is taken up by your office space.

Use the same marketing tools as a standard brick and mortar business, to promote your at home venture. Advertising your service or product, is just as important, if not more, when you work from the home. It is important that the public knows how to find you and that your business exists.

Keep in mind all of the information you have just learned. You will want to make sure you remember all of the new material you have just learned so you can apply them to create a successful home business. The only way you are going to see success or progress is if you try out some of the new tips you learned.
