Visit a local health center near you and ask your doctor for anti-malaria tablets. You should see the doctor a couple of weeks before you travel. Get the correct dosage and ask your doctor how far ahead you should take the drugs before you embark on your trip. Make sure to take your medication according to the schedule given by your doctor. Small children and pregnant women should not take the drugs without consulting their doctor.

Use insect repellents. You can purchase these when you get to your destination. There are different types of repellents. Use the one that is suitable for you. You can choose to use more than one at the same time. You can buy sprays, coils or those repellents that you apply on your body. If you are using a coil or spray, use them in the evenings and at night before you go to bed. This will get rid of any mosquitoes that are in the room.

Use a mosquito net at night when you are sleeping. Ensure that the net is in good condition and it is not torn. Spread the mosquito net properly at night so that there is no opening by which a mosquito can go through. If the area has a lot of mosquitoes, it will be advisable to also use a net when you are taking a nap during the day.

Choose a house that is located in a place where there aren't so many mosquitoes. Some of the things that you can be on the lookout for is that there are no stagnant waters around the house. The compound should be well taken care of and not have bushes around it. Screens should be on the windows of the house to stop mosquitoes for gaining access to the house.

Wear clothes that will cover most of your body at night. You should wear trousers and clothes with long sleeves. Also wear closed shoes or socks to cover your feet. This is because there are usually a lot of mosquitoes at night.

There are some things that attract mosquitoes. If you don't want mosquitoes to follow you, you should avoid these things. This includes sugary snacks, after shave and perfumes. In addition, avoid dark colored clothes at night.

Be aware of what symptoms to be on the lookout for. If you notice any of these signs, see a doctor. There is a treatment for the disease. If it the illness is detected early, it is easier to treat than if it is at a more advanced stage.
