Horseback riding refers to skills of steeplechase or jumping with horses. The elaboration is broad since it includes the use of horse for various purposes. These purposes include practical jobs, movement of goods, recreational activities, cultural exercises and competitive sports like horseback riding long island.

This practice can be traced back in time since the practice has existed for centuries. Archeological shreds of evidence including teeth, bones and other remains reveal that horses were ridden from as early as 3500 BC. The evidence confirms that horses were used in agriculture, transport of people and goods, and even in war.

Let us have a wider view of using horsebacks, starting with job purposes. Horses are commonly used by police forces to keep law and order in various functions including political rallies and in cases of riots whereby the animals speed is advantageous in reaching out for the people who are rioting. The horses and the personnel who ride them are highly trained in cases of unrests in order to have the job done professionally.

The second importance of horses is to ensure swift movement of goods and people from a region to another due to their swiftness, flexibility and ability to access remote places that were deemed difficult to reach like thickets, marshlands and so on. Horses also offered the most reliable means of transport in times of rural to urban migration, or urban to rural migration because they are strong enough to pull the heavy chariots loaded with luggage. Horses revolutionized transportation by ensuring that people and goods moved smoothly from one place to another.

Recreational activities also called for using horses. People would use horses for leisure purposes and these activities brought people together since everyone had one common goal for the day. People from different communities interacted well with each other in these activities hence bringing forth intermarriages and peace among them.

The culture of a particular community is important since it acts as a guideline for the people in ensuring that they uphold the moral values and conduct themselves in an orderly manner. Horses were important since they were used in cultural ceremonies like funerals where the horses transported the mourners and the corpse, and also in weddings where they pulled chariots carrying the bride and the groom. In most occasions, the horses pulled carriages that were mounted on them.

There are different types of horseback racing which includes thoroughbred and steeple chasing. The type of horse racing that is well known worldwide is thoroughbred in other terms it is also referred as flat racing which is governed by The Jockey Club in the USA. Steeple chasing involves racing on an open field where horses are required to jump over various impediments, it well known in the UK and also termed as National Hunt racing.

Horseback racing has many advantages due to its contribution to ensuring efficient movement. People of all ages require being trained early enough so as to equip them with the necessary skills they require in this art. Interactions brought about with horse riding events and ceremonies bring about peace and cohesion among communities, hence, there's need to embrace the horse riding culture for the betterment of the future.
