Choosing Music Promoter As Your Career

By Kevin Cox

Many individuals cannot live without music in their life. In fact, it has been very crucial to them that without it, their day will not be complete. Others love to listen to classical piece of Chopin whenever they are studying for their exams. Some like listening to rock genres if they are alone in their house and just want to lift up their moods. Others cannot even leave their houses when their headset or earphones are missing. Others might find it impossible to make it as their living but no worries with that. They can walk on that path by being a concert promoter.

Once individuals find some bands that are so addicting, they cannot stop themselves on becoming their fans. And for sure before they sleep at night, others would tend to daydream and imagine themselves working alongside their favorite rock stars like Avril Lavigne, Hayley Williams or perhaps Billie Joe Armstrong. Seeing their live performances is already a blessing to their eyes and ears. But have you wondered as well on how their shows were made?

Perhaps you have heard about music promoters before or maybe you never did. Most people think that concerts were being set up by the companies or label coming from the artists or perhaps the band itself. But actually, music promoters are the one who do those tasks. That person handles the promotions, negotiates with the agents or the band, books the venue, etc.

Needless to say, their main job is to broadcast or advertise the concert of an artist. To do that, they have to cooperate and collaborate with the agents or the bands as well as the concert venues wherein the show is going to hold. Its job description sounds so tough and indeed it is. But with your strong passion for music and organizing skills, you can pull this off.

In becoming one, there are two selections of path that you would choose. The first path is working established promotion companies. Working here will give you chance to work with the big names in music industries.

However, it might still take some time to become a lead promoter as you have to start from the basics like giving out flyers to random people. Other than that, you also might be working with some artists you cannot tolerate with. But once you reached the top, more artists will surely come to you to do a promotion.

Indie Promoting is the second choice you may select. This path is really simple since you just have to look for a local band and arrange their show for them. Aside from that, you now become the leader on that project on your first day.

Despite the freedom you get, it comes with many responsibilities too. Unlike being affiliated with established companies, your money will be put into risks if ever you made some wrong decisions. And if the band you had been promoting turns into a flop, your investment will surely be lost. Be sure to have some knowledge about marketing and business and also good social skills to survive on this.

Your love for songs and melodies will certainly not perish in this career. In fact, no need for college degree to attain this. So are you ready to become one now?
