By Timothy Johnson

Different societies and countries around the world have different cultures and the United States is not exempted. In the US, there are very many decades-old cultures such as going for summer camps, biking, mountain climbing, and car racing. These are activities that people engage in during holidays, especially during summer when there is plenty of free time and the weather is favorable. When one needs Campground north of FT Mcmurray offers the perfect location to visit.

In the American culture, camping is one of the oldest practices. Most Americans usually take their children and teenagers to camps due to the benefits they present. Camping however is on the decline due to children having alternative activities to engage in instead of camping. There is a decline in the number of parents that take their kids camping.

Camping offers a number of benefits, including providing kids a chance to develop their social skills. During camping, kids get to interact with their peers. The kids are expected to respect each other and work together on a number of activities. Through this, the kids learn how to co-exist and socialize with others.

The social skills learnt by children while they are in camps assist them in making several good friends. Some of the best pals that a considerable number of American people have were met while they were in summer camps. Given that kids do similar activities, they assist each other in creating friendship and a bond. Children are drawn together by the activities they do together like talking, laughing, playing, singing, and many more.

Camping also helps kids to reduce or be free from the pressure which comes from the tight and hectic school life and routine. They have a chance to play in an unstructured set up. This helps them to psychologically be ready for the next school season. As a matter of fact, when a kid goes to summer camp their academic performance is affected positively.

Another very important benefit that camping presents children or youths with is the opportunity to interact with Mother Nature. Most children live in urban areas in big cities where there is no shred of the natural environment. For most children, life is spent inside the house, school compound, on the bus, or in the streets. They never get a chance to be in a real natural setting.

Camping also comes with some health benefits. When children or youths go for camping, they get a chance to engage in very many physical activities that help them to exercise. As they exercise, they are able to overcome problems such as obesity, stress, and depression among others. Also, the may continue with exercise routines even after the camp is over, which can help them to live more active lives.

In conclusion, it is expected that kids come out of camp with certain skills. For example, there are camps which teach the children how to make fires, ride horses, and write computer programs or how to cook. Such camps equip kids with important life skills, which may come in handy later in their lives. Such skills also help children to identify their passions.
