By Dollie Duonola

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and it can also be an expensive city to visit. But, there are many cool things to see for free if you know where to look. There are many of the city's museums that offer free admission once a month, usually on the first Tuesday or Wednesday. All over the city, you can also find free performances and festivals during summer. You can even take a free walking tour with a tour guide other than the fact that, there are many of the tourist attractions that cost nothing.

In the end of the XVI century, first settlement was built by the Spanish conquers and received its name in honor of Saint Francisc.

Every Sunday in the summer, there is a free outdoor music concert which is called Stern Grove. Moreover, you can watch performances by the San Francisco ballet, the Symphony, and many more famous performers. In the different parks around the city, you can catch free shows by the San Francisco Mime Troupe and the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. On a nice day, these are great things to attend with some friends, your dog, and a picnic basket.

There are some of the most famous sites in San Francisco that happen to be free. Just for example, the botanical garden in Golden gate Park is always free. There is no cost for taking a walk down the crookedest street every day. Take note that this is one of the most popular things for visitors to see. Nothing beats taking a walk across the Golden gate Bridge, or just taking a look at it from a distance. You have to spend for nothing here.

Some organizations offer free walking tours of San Francisco, with guides that provide historical facts and information for you and your group. The activity is conducted by the local volunteers who love the city, its history, and legends. You can even join them on tours of Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, and more.
