Mensa has accepted a two-year old boy and a 3-year old girl into its fold. Nevertheless, not all parents are privy to having genius-level children. So how can we ensure that they build up skills and abilities that will help them in the coming future, with all its difficulties and joys? We can develop their talents and skills early on so that they will imbibe a sense of discipline that many children do not possess, putting them at a disadvantage in bad time.
This is because learned control comes in handy as they grow into being adults. Kids who never learned this skillset have a harder time dealing with issues as an adult. It is adults who have learned to be closely controlled early on in their lives that turn out to be the top performers whether it's in their jobs or when it comes to managing their finances.
Sending them to workshops or classes are easy ways of teaching them discipline. If your child likes singing, enroll them for singing lessons. If they desire to play a musical instrument, why not send them to guitar lessons? Guitar lessons enable your kid to proactively use both the right and left regions of his brain during note-reading and whilst composing his own works.
Apart from learning the language of music, these lessons will come in handy as it teaches your kids the discipline and benefits of constant practice. They will see that good results require effort on their part, something which greatly reflects the reality of life.
These guitar lessons also enhance their social interaction skills, since not only are they interacting with their instructors but they are also relating to their colleagues. This, of course, also occurs at school, but the environment of shared interests tremendously helps in making the kid feel accepted. For children, it is paramount that they be treated as individuals but also that their playmates support of the individual that they are.
