Customizing Creative Writing Journals To Write In

By Winifred Christensen

Ideas can come and go. Even in times when we do not invite them in, they have their own way of catching our attention. If we do not take time to write them down, we may end up losing them entirely. This is exactly why creative writers both by profession and by interest keep something portable that they can use to house their ideas in.

Regardless of the specific field that you have in writing, the challenge of coming up with new ideas is always there. Keeping some creative writing journals to write in is a great help to make sure that you can write down any random thoughts that come into mind while doing any of your daily activities. Unlike gadgets that can run out of battery, journals can stay in your pack for as long as you like and is always ready to house any new ideas.

One advantage of keeping a journal is its high portability. You can choose the size that is more comfortable for you. You also have the option to customize the way you want it. Here are some tips that can prove to be useful once you start personalizing it and adding some details.

Design of the cover. Most likely, if do not find the cover appealing enough, we do not buy it. Its only natural to look for those that look good. The more appealing it looks, the more we are likely to love writing on it. As we have mentioned, there are many options in shops. If you cannot find anything that suits your needs well, go create your own.

Decide on the features that you wish the journal to have. You should also have to think about the specific things about the journal. How big is it. What kind of paper do you need to have. Do you like its pages to be completely blank or will those with lines be acceptable.

Think about the things you will most likely place on the journal. Will you just limit the contents to text or are you expecting to place some photos and some other contents in there. The type of content that you will place can potentially affect the appropriate journal that you need to buy.

Secure good quality materials. You will be bringing the journals every now and then. To make sure that it does not easily tear down, its best if you provide it with some sort of protection. Also, when doing the design, it could help if you choose high quality materials that will not easily fade or be broken.

Have a title or a name. You do not have to create this if you do not want to. But giving your journal a name can prove to be beneficial especially if you want it to be more personal. Plus, you will find it good to know that you can call it something rather than just an ordinary notebook.

Do not let those precious ideas go off without writing them down. Once lost, it will already be very difficult to bring them back. Be ready to catch them when they come.
