Hong Kong Sights, China

By Jonny Blair

Hong Kong is awesome for budget backpackers. Don't be fooled by its business like image. The city oozes cheap eateries, free sights, endless markets and a range of world class sights. It also has history, culture and nature bunged into a massive skyscraping metropolis.

Here is a look at some of the top sights you can experience in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong skyline has been ranked number one in the top twenty skylines of the world, beating even New York for the spot. It truly is a sight to behold. There are many key spots you can visit to get the perfect view of the skyline at night. These include Kowloon, Victoria Peak and crossing on the ferry from Victoria Harbour.

Get yourself over to Lantau Island when you are touring Hong Kong as here sits the big Buddha. This is a massive statue worth checking out. You can even do it on a tight budget by walking up to it instead of taking the cable car. It does get very busy at times and offers tremendous views over the skyline and outlying islands of Hong Kong.

Don't just think that Hong Kong is all about big skyscrapers and a bustling city. There are some really awesome quiet spots to check out the city too!! These get you away from the noise and busy business lifestyle. Nan Lian Garden is the perfect spot to relax away from the crazy busy streets of the Kong!

The Hong Kong Park is an attraction in the middle of the city that offers multiple activities and sights. Walk through the aviary to see beautiful birds and butterflies or take a trip to the zoo. There is a Tai Chi garden for a moment of peace and quiet and also a tea ware museum and view tower. The man made waterfall and lake are beautiful, with fish and turtles to see.

In terms of hiking and scenic walks, Hong Kong also offers a lot in this regard. One of the best hiking trails is known as the dragon's back. This is on Hong Kong island. It tests the muscles and also offers scintillating views over the splendid city and countryside and further out to sea.

In short, get yourself out to Hong Kong when you tour Asia as it is a great city with such a wide variety of things to do.
