Make Organic Vegan Nutella Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

By Stephen Howard

It's great to eat healthy food, and it really affects your general health condition. Well, it is also nice to have something sweet, and, if you are vegan, it's not always easy to find really delicious sweets to enjoy. Luckily, you can make some in your own kitchen, and here you can find one ridiculously simple and easy recipe for amazingly tasty spread you will just love.

Let's start with the ingredients. For this delicious organic vegan nutella chocolate hazelnut spread you need only a few basic ingredients, depending on the recipe of your choice. If you don't mind using dark, dairy-free chocolate, the things will be even simpler. Besides that, you need a good food processor or a really good blender.

Smoothie maker is much faster and gets better results than usually used blenders, but most food processors are also good for this purpose. This recipe uses four cups hazelnuts and two cups dark chocolate, but you can use different ratios if you want. Molasses is added for sweetness, because it gives richer taste, but maple syrup is also great for this, it is up to your taste.

Hazelnuts should be roasted first, for about fifteen minutes on 175 degrees Celsius. It's good to shake the pan occasionally. Use kitchen towels to roll roasted hazelnuts when still warm, to remove the skin. Repeat the process using clean towels. Some skin will remain, but it doesn't matter, just remove as much as you can.

Place the hazelnuts into the food processor and blend until hazelnut butter is formed. Now you can add melted chocolate and a spoon or two of molasses or maple syrup. Of course, if you don't want your spread to be sweeter, you don't have to add any of these ingredients. If you do, just remember it will make the spread harder, but tastier.

Some of you don't want to use dark chocolate in your recipes, and that's perfectly fine. In this case, you will need some organic cocoa instead. The spread might not be so creamy in this case, but you will still love it. Although you may add cocoa as it is, it's actually better to mix it with a small quantity of hot water first. It will make the whole thing creamier.

When you use organic cocoa in your recipe, enrich your mixture adding some good quality molasses and a little spoon of vanilla extract. Blend all the ingredients together and put it all in one large jar. You can keep it all in the fridge for a few weeks, although, it is so good it probably won't last so long. Just try not to eat it all at once.

There are also a few interesting ideas for improving your recipes. For example, you could boil some cloves and a cinnamon stick in a few spoons of water first, and then use this water for your cocoa powder. You could also use fresh orange zest and squeeze a drop or two of orange oil into your blender, just to spice up your lovely spread. Experiment and enjoy.
